Claire Taylor Design is a Berkeley-based interior design and colour consultancy serving homeowners throughout the East Bay and San Francisco Bay Area. British-born designer Claire Taylor creates warm, timeless and European-inspired interiors that feel personal, relaxed and beautifully considered. From local businesses to residential whole-home renovations, kitchen and bathroom design to furnishing, styling and architectural colour consultations, every project is tailored to the character of the space and the people who live, work and play there.
My approach always begins with a simple question: How do you want to feel in your space?
I look to my clients, their lifestyle, the bones of their spaces and the way they function for creative direction. Whether I'm working with a Berkeley Craftsman, a home in the Berkeley Hills, a traditional East Bay residence or a contemporary renovation, my goal is to create a space that feels cohesive, welcoming and distinctly yours. Working closely with a trusted network of architects, contractors, cabinet makers, artisans and tradespeople, I guide each project from the initial concept and space planning through to materials, furnishings, colour and the finishing details.
The result is an inviting, well-functioning space with personality, warmth and a sense that everything belongs.
My work has given me the opportunity to design a wide range of interiors throughout Berkeley and the East Bay, including the Berkeley Hills, Oakland, Albany, Alameda, Orinda and Lafayette and further afield in San Francisco.

While every project has its own personality, my approach remains the same: to understand the architecture, listen carefully to my clients and create spaces that are both beautiful and genuinely enjoyable to live in. From historic homes with original character to complete contemporary renovations, I love bringing together colour, natural materials, interesting textures, antiques, modern pieces and thoughtful details to create interiors that feel layered, relaxed and timeless.
