Color responds to the light in your space, the surrounding landscape, neighbouring buildings, architectural details and all the existing materials. It can also affect how we feel when we walk into a room.

And while a trip to the paint store can give you almost limitless choices, more choice doesn't necessarily make the decision easier.

My Architectural Color Consultations are designed to streamline your options and give you confidence in your choices. I help homeowners, architects, realtors, contractors, developers and businesses select paint colors that work beautifully with the architecture, environment and existing finishes.

Interior Color Consultations

Perhaps you are refreshing one room, repainting your entire interior or struggling to find colors that work with finishes you already have. I can help you coordinate paint colors with:

Rather than choosing colors in isolation, I look at the room as a whole and consider how colous relate to one another throughout your home.

Exterior Color Consultations

Exterior color is particularly affected by its surroundings.

For exterior projects, I consider the architecture of your home together with the landscape, hardscape, windows, roof, neighbouring buildings and the quality of the natural light.

I can help you develop a harmonious exterior palette for siding, stucco, trim, doors and other architectural details.

This is particularly valuable when you want to update the appearance of your home while respecting its existing character.

What to Expect

Before our consultation, I'll ask you to send photographs of the space and a summary of what you are hoping to achieve.

During my visit, I'll bring my paint decks and look carefully at your environment, lighting, architectural details and existing finishes. We'll discuss your vision and the emotional response you want the space to create.

I'll then recommend paint colors and appropriate finishes, taking both aesthetics and durability into consideration.

Paint Swatches to Try at Home

One of the most useful parts of the consultation is being able to see the colors properly in your own home.

Following our meeting, I'll order 8" x 10" paint swatches of the colors we've discussed and have them delivered directly to your door within two days.

You can then move the larger samples around the room and observe how they look in different areas and at different times of day before making your final decision.

Optional Design Add-Ons

For projects that require additional documentation, I can provide optional add-ons including:

Digitally rendered photos
Conceptual, visual representations of the proposed color scheme to help you see how the pallette will work together.
Paint schedules
A detailed schedule showing the recommended colors, finishes and locations, ready to hand to your contractor or painter.

Consultation Fee

Architectural Color Consultations are $250 per hour.

After your consultation, you'll also receive 20% off Benjamin Moore at East Bay Paint Center, and Farrow & Ball paints and accessories.
