The Uplands

Fed up with a funky and segmented vintage bathroom that didn't allow two people in at a time, the owners of this imposing house in a coveted Berkeley neighborhood, craved a modern and uncomplicated, spacious master bath without adding to the existing footprint.  Working with their contractor and architect, I removed a dividing pony wall, pulled out the old tub and created a curbless walk-in shower big enough for two, while letting in plenty of light through an extruded feature window in the enclosure.  A custom walnut double vanity provides warmth and practicality along with much improved storage, plenty of task lighting and a feeling of openness and space.
